Whether you just noticed a renewal charge, want to check if your subscription is set to renew automatically, or want to turn Auto Renew off — this page has everything you need.
What Is Auto Renew?
Auto Renew is a Trend Micro service that automatically extends your subscription for another year before it expires. When it's enabled, your saved payment method is charged on your subscription's expiration date — so your protection never has a gap.
You can turn Auto Renew on or off at any time. You're always in control.
How to Check If Your Subscription Is Set to Auto Renew
Before making any changes, find out whether Auto Renew is currently on or off for your subscription:
- Go to account.trendmicro.com and sign in with your email and password.
- Click the Licenses tab.
- Find your subscription in the list.
- If you see a Manage Subscription button next to it → Auto Renew is ON.
- If you see a Renew Now button instead → Auto Renew is OFF.
✅ Now you know your Auto Renew status — use the sections below based on what you'd like to do next.
Were You Just Charged? Here's What Happened
If you saw an unexpected charge from Trend Micro on your bank statement or credit card, it's most likely your Auto Renew charge — your subscription renewed automatically for another year.
A few things worth knowing:
- The renewal price may be higher than what you originally paid. Introductory and promotional prices apply only to new purchases. The standard renewal price is different. To check the exact renewal price for your subscription before it renews, see how to check your Auto Renew price →
- You can request a refund within Trend Micro's Refund Request Page. If you believe you were charged incorrectly, or you didn't intend to renew, contact Trend Micro Support as soon as possible.
- You won't be charged again until your next renewal date — usually one year from the date you were just charged.
How to Turn Off Auto Renew
If you'd prefer to renew your subscription manually each year instead of automatically, here's how to turn Auto Renew off:
- Go to account.trendmicro.com and sign in.
- Under the Licenses tab, find the subscription you want to change.
- 🔔 Not sure which subscription to select? Look for the name of your product (for example, "Maximum Security") and the number of devices it covers.
- Click Manage Subscription next to it.
- A screen appears explaining what happens when Auto Renew is disabled. Read it, then click Continue.
- Answer the short feedback form to let us know why you're turning it off, then click Submit.
- Select Stop Auto Renew.
✅ You'll know it worked when: The Manage Subscription button next to your subscription changes to a Renew Now button. Auto Renew is now off.
🔔 Reminder: Your protection stays active until your current subscription expires — turning off Auto Renew does not remove your protection.
