Why did this happen?
You may get this message on your Mac:
"Trend Micro Antivirus cannot work if system extension permission is not allowed"
Why did this happen?
You may have closed the instruction page for setting up System Extension.
How do I fix this?
Allow the Trend Micro Extension and Full Disk Access manually depending on what macOS version you have:
Expand All
For macOS 13 Ventura
Allow Trend Micro Extension and Full Disk Access on macOS Ventura
- Restart your Mac.
- Click OK on the pop up.
- Allow Trend Micro Extensions:
- On the Antivirus for Mac Permission Setup window, click the Open Privacy & Security button.
- The Privacy & Security window should open. Scroll down to Security, then click Details....
- Enter your Mac username and password, and then click Unlock to allow changes.
- Enable all Trend Micro Antivirus Extension items, then click OK.
- Click Allow when you see this pop up below.
- Click the Verify button once finished.
- Allow Full Disk Access:
- On the Antivirus for Mac Permission Setup window, click the Open Full Disk Access button.
- Enable Trend Micro Antivirus and Trend Micro Antivirus Extension.
Can’t find Trend Micro Antivirus and Trend Micro Antivirus Extension?
- Click the Don’t see these items? link.
- Click the Open File Location 1 button.
Drag the highlighted Trend Micro Antivirus entry to the Full Disk Access window.
- Click the Open File Location 2 button.
Drag the highlighted com.trendmicro.icore.es.systemextension entry to the Full Disk Access window.
- Enter your Mac username and password, and then click Unlock to allow changes.
- Click the Verify button once finished.
For macOS 12 Monterey and below
Allow Trend Micro Extension and Full Disk Access on macOS Monterey and below
- Click Cancel or Try Again and continue to allow System Guidance.
- Click Continue in the Permission Overview page.
- Click Open System Preferences.
- Unlock the page.
- Click the Allow button.
- Select all Placeholder Developer, and then click OK.
- Click Allow when you see this popup below.
- You will find that the page has changed, click the Continue button.
- Click the Open System Preferences button.
- Unlock the page if it is locked.
- Select Full Disk Access, and then tick Trend Micro Antivirus and Trend Micro Antivirus Extension.
Make sure to select both Trend Micro Antivirus and Trend Micro Antivirus Extension.
- Click Verify to validate the necessary permissions.
